What Is Frequency Healing?

"Frequency healing" can sound like it's borrowing a physics term for effect, and in a sense it is — but the underlying idea is simple enough. Every sound is a vibration at a particular frequency, and different tones tend to produce noticeably different felt effects: some settling, some energising, some almost uncomfortable. Frequency healing works with that directly, using voice or instruments tuned to specific tones.
It overlaps heavily with sound healing, and the two terms are often used interchangeably. If there's a distinction worth drawing, it's one of emphasis: sound healing tends to describe the fuller sensory experience — bowls, gong, an immersive soundscape — while frequency healing usually points more specifically at the tones themselves and why particular ones are chosen.
You may have come across Solfeggio frequencies — a set of specific tones that became popular in sound and energy circles, each associated with a particular quality or intention. Edel works with these among other tools, but the frequency isn't the whole story; how a tone is held, layered and offered matters as much as the number attached to it.
A beginner practice doesn't require any instruments at all. Simply humming a single, comfortable low tone for a minute, with attention on the vibration in your chest and throat rather than the sound itself, is a reasonable first experience of what frequency work is actually pointing at — before any bowls or tuning forks enter the picture.
As with the rest of the practices on this site, frequency healing isn't a treatment for any diagnosed condition and no specific outcome is promised — it's a complementary practice, offered alongside whatever professional support you already have, not instead of it.
